Eiffel logo design competition
The SmartEiffel team are holding a competition to design a new logo, although they haven't yet decided how they will choose the winner. I guess they will just "know it" when the ideal logo has arrived.
Already there are logos involving Star Wars, Russian dolls, jigsaw pieces, Gustav the koala, a working horse, geometric shapes, building blocks, stylised letters, the Eiffel tower (who would have thought it?), a swan, Agents 86 and 99 from "Get Smart", a gnu with Richard Stallman's face, and some toothed cogs.
Oh, and there's also an example of "what not to do":
