One of them is "DWIM...Perl has a number of mantras. One of them is "DWIM": the idea that Perl should "Do What I Mean" (presumably instead of "Do What I Say").<BR/><BR/>That mantra is used to justify all manner of automatic conversions and other shortcuts. DWIM seems to work well for Perl coders - making it possible to write working code faster - but it's at odds with the Eiffel Way.<BR/><BR/>A while back I was reading a web page which explained an algorithm with a few paragraphs of elegant pseudocode.
